The Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index and Webometrics have ranked Ghana’s premier university, the University of Ghana (UG) as the best tertiary institution in Ghana for the year 2022.

Recently, the U.S News and World Report announced the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as the best tertiary institution in Ghana. Again, Times Higher Education also placed the University of Cape Coast as the best institution in Ghana. All for the year 2022.

However, in a post sighted on the websites of the University of Ghana, it wished to inform the university population and the public of its feat. Thus, Webometrics and Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index have ranked them as the best university in Ghana.

Webometrics places the university 11th in Sub-Saharan Africa and 1,1121 in the world out of 31,000 Higher Education institutions from over 200 countries.

Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index on the other side places the university as first in Ghana, 15th out of 2,049 universities in Africa, and 1,074 out of 14, 284 universities surveyed around the globe.

Both rank institutions ranked the universities based on standard indicators of excellence. They include the quality of education, the quality of faculties within an individual university, international collaborations, the number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, and others.

Director of Public Affairs, Elizier T. Ameyaw-Buronyah in the post concluded, “Congratulations on these achievements to Faculty, Graduate Students and all other members of the University community who continue to uplift the University of Ghana in Ghana, Africa, and the world through their hard work and commitment to academic excellence.”

Behind the University of Ghana are the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the University of Cape Coast, and the University for Development Studies.
