There’s true justice in Nigeria – reinstated Ekiti chief

The Edemo of Ado Ekiti, High Chief James Bamidele Aduloju, has hailed Nigeria’s judicial system saying there is still true justice in the country.

Aduloju, who described the judiciary as the last hope of the common man, said people, irrespective of their status and background, can still get the justice they deserve in Nigeria’s courts of law.

He spoke on Sunday after a thanksgiving service held at The Christ The King Catholic Church, Ado Ekiti, for his reinstatement as the Edemo of Ado Ekiti by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The apex court, had in May, reversed the action taken by Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, who removed Aduloju as Edemo of Ado Ekiti and installed one Dayo Fajemilua as replacement.

The court, in the judgment delivered by Justice Samuel Oseji, affirmed Chief Aduloju as the authentic Edemo of Ado Ekiti and declared as a nullity, “the nomination and appointment of Dayo Fajemilua as Edemo of Ado-Ekiti by the Ewi of Ado during the pendency of a court action.”

Speaking further on the country’s judicial system, he said, ” There is true justice in Nigeria, I so much believe in this. My own case is a testimonial.

“I have nobody there and I don’t know anyone . They thought I would go and come back disappointed but God was there for me.

“All the judges puts their heads together and critically looked into case and declared me the authentic Edemo of Ado Ekiti”

Chief Aduloju, who noted that the case started in 2010 said he was only trying to protect what belonged to his father’s house and not disrespect the tradition.

He expressed hope the monarch will welcome him back to the palace soon with open arms.

“Ewi is my father and the father of all Ado Ekiti. When a child has issues with his father, the child will go begging and the father will forgive.

” I know Ewi as our father has also put everything that has happened behind us and we shall be welcomed back to the palace soon”.

Chief Aduloju appreciated his teeming family members, friends and well-wishers who graced the occasion.

“My message to my Edemo family is to continue to be cooperative and supportive as they have been doing since the beginning.

” They know that what I did was not for myself but for the whole family. I thanked God they are solidly behind me”.

It would be recalled that in 2012, Ewi of Ado Ekiti removed Chief Aduloju as Edemo, sequel to a disagreement over landed property located along Ijan road in the state capital.

One Dayo Fajemilua was later installed as the Edemo of Ado Ekiti by the Ewi, during the pendency of the action at the High Court, Ekiti State
