While agreeing there is a delay in nominating persons for the positions of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) eight months after general elections, Assembly members have been urged to also act swiftly to confirm nominees for those positions as soon as the list is ready from the presidency.
Ashanti Regional Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Francis Adomako passionately appealed to Assembly members in the various assemblies not to waste time immediately the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo releases names of persons for positions at the local levels.
“The moment that person’s name is mentioned that becomes the first huddle. The second huddle is that he or she needs to get approval from the Assembly members. It’s been overdue, my plea is that the Assembly members should not delay the process. They should also not drag their feet”, he spoke on Orange FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com
The NPP Regional Organizer, Dr. Adomako also told host, Alfa Ali that NPP supporters especially the youth must welcome and accept whoever the President will nominate to become their representative.
Many Ghanaians have been asking questions about the delay in the release of the MMDCEs by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo claiming it is affecting development in the country.
“I will also entreat all and sundry, no matter the list that comes, let’s all bury our differences; let’s accept the name that comes being it a party person, sympathizer or someone who offers himself”, the NPP Regional Organizer said.
NPP General Secretary John Boadu, has also appealed to members of the party and the general public to exercise patience as the list of MMDCEs will soon be released.
