Former Senator, Shehu Sani, on Sunday hailed Enugu state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for rebuilding two mosques destroyed by hoodlums in the wake of the crisis that erupted in the state last year.
Recall that, the two mosques, located in Nsukka Local Government Area, were destroyed by hoodlums last year by protesters. The destruction led to tension and apprehension between the two main religions in the area.
Arewa youths Forum (AYF) had earlier commended the Governor.
Senator Shehu Sani who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the red chamber between 2015 and 2018, also wrote on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, commending the Governor.
He said, “the Governor of Enugu State reportedly rebuilt the Nsukka Central Mosque that was recently burnt and destroyed and handed it back to the Muslim community.
“That is commendable and should be emulated by all. Nobody should be persecuted for his religious beliefs or denied the right to practice his or her religious duties or obligations.”
