Overtaking kills one in ghastly Wenchi accident, four others severely injured



One person has been confirmed dead in a head-on collision involving a Sprinter bus and a Taxi cab, MyNewsGh.com reports.

The accident is said to have occurred on the Wenchi – Techiman Highway in the Bono Region.

Speaking in an interview with Radio West Africa, Deputy Superintendent of Police ( DSP), Mr. Kofi Odro Amponsah said his outfit had a distress call that there was an accident on the Wenchi – Techiman Highway just after the Nkonsia Police Barrier on Tuesday evening at about 6:00 pm so they hurriedly rush to the scene.

He explained that the Sprinter which was travelling from Kumasi to Wa made a wrong overtaking leading to the head-on collision with the Taxi.

The Police disclosed that four passengers were in critical condition and were rushed to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital for treatment.

” The Driver of the Sprinter bus which was heading towards Wa attempted to overtake leading to the head-on with the Opel Astra Taxi which was heading towards Techiman from Wenchi. Currently, one person has lost his life whiles four others are battling for their lives,” he revealed.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased, Francis Eleweh age 36 has been sent to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
