The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi, SAN, has expressed gratitude over the successful rescue of the abducted 300-level female student of the institution, Isiaq Khadeejah.
A statement by the Director, University Relations of the institution, Abdulrazaq Sanni, in Ilorin on Saturday, said “one of the alleged criminals was arrested on Saturday morning in Shao town, Moro Local Government Area of the state, a development that led to the arrest of other members of the syndicate.”
“The suspects have since been moved to the state police headquarters for further interogation and investigations,” the statement added.

It further stated that “the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Professor Moshood Jimba and some staff of the University were at the state police headquarters to take possession of the released victim and subsequently reunited her with her family.”
The Vice-Chancellor received the rescued student in his official lodge in Ilorin shortly after her handover to the University authorities by the police.
He appealed to the staff and students within and outside the campus to remain calm and go about their lawful activities with caution as the management would not relent in ensuring safety of lives and properties on the campus.
DAILY POST recalls that the state police command through the spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, first broke the news about the release of the kidnapped student through the combined efforts of the IGP team, local hunters, vigilantes and the university authorities.
The image maker also revealed that six suspects are now in police net in connection with the kidnap incident, while categories of weapons were recovered from them.
