The Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and the Prisons Service were included in the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) in 2010.

Salaries are therefore driven by SSSS structure. Salary ranges from 1,320 GHS (lowest) to 4,550 GHS (highest) (highest). They earn an average of 34,300 GHS each year. Housing, transportation, and other amenities are included in this monthly wage.

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission will evaluate the over a decade-old Single Spine Salary Structure in the coming months.

Firefighters and Rescue Crew eligibility Criteria

To get inducted in Ghana National Fire service, eligible applicant must:

  1. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Be with no criminal record and of good character.
  3. Be not less than 18 years and not more than 30years of age Officer Corps applicants
  4. Be not less than 18years and not more than 30years of age for Non-Tradesman applicants and 35 years for Driver/Mechanics
  5. Be physically and medically fit by Fire Service standards.
  6. Be of a minimum height of 1.73metres (5ft8Inches) for males and 1.63metres (5ft4Inches) for females.

Firefighters and Rescue Crew; In addition to satisfying requirements “a”,“b”,“c”,“d”,and “e”

In general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

  1. Four (4) credits in SSCE/WASSCE, and a pass in English language or mathematics (D7 or E8).
  2. Four (4) credits in the Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Level Certificate, and a pass in English or Mathematics or ‘A’ Level / ‘O’ Level with credit in English.

Ranks for Recruitment Junior Officers

After successfully completing a training course at the Ghana National Fire Service’s Fire Academy and Training School, rank in the Ghana National Fire Service begins with Recruit Fireman/Firewoman (FATS).

The Recruit Fireman/Firewoman works their way up to Station Officer Grade One (STN/OI), the highest level in the Junior Officers corps.
