Retired Archbishop for the Anglican Church- Kumasi diocese Most Reverend Professor Daniel Yinkah Sarfo has negated pressure exerted by the masses on government to fix the country.

He has set the record straight without mincing words that all have contributed to the mess Ghana is presently facing.

“The country has been destroyed by all of us. Right from when we gained Independence till date. Previous governments have contributed to the mess within which we find ourselves. From Kwame Nkrumah till now. If you want government to fix the country fix yourself first.”, he underscored boldly during the first day (1st September 2021) of a 3-day Pastors conference held in Kumasi.

Giving more credence to the above, he cited the skyrocketing level of bribery and corruption which has carpeted every facet of the Ghanaian society, illegal mining with its attendant consequences, serial killings, etcetera.

He continued in his explanation that all are guilty of the foregoing and that the leadership of the church has failed to speak against the evil committed by the citizenry.

The renowned clergy at the prologue stage of his address hit the nail right on the head by stating that “Ghana is sick”, expositing that Ghana has advanced in democracy and is as well endowed with natural resources than other Africa countries ‘but why is our country not advancing.”

He registered his disapproval against how some Men of God dwell their sermons on prosperity messages characteristically principles of success instead of focusing on preaching and teaching the Gospel of Christ.

“Don’t preach principles of success, preach the Gospel. Such sermons (prosperity) cannot save the soul”, he admonished.

Most Reverend Professor Daniel Yinkah Sarfo told the clergy at the conference that it is high time church leaders corrected wrongs committed by the youth and the citizenry at large and also supported government in the building of the country.
