The Citizen of Saltpond Association (COSA) branch of the United States of America (USA) has donated medical equipment to the Saltpond Government Hospital in the Mfantseman Municipality of Central Region to enhance healthcare delivery.
The items include ECG Machine, Blood Pressure Monitor, Stethoscope, ECG Machine Accessories and boxes of medical supplies which cost about $4,000.
The Executive Branch Secretary of COSA, Rita Effie Agyare Darko Ampiah, urged the hospital management to take good care of the equipment and assured that association would pay unannounced visits to see how well they were taking care of the equipment.
In an interview on the gesture, Mrs. Darko Ampiah explained that “one of their members lost her sister at the hospital all because the hospital didn’t have a single ECG Machine to check heart conditions”.
“After we heard such sad news, we came out to make sure the hospital is well equipped,” she revealed. “Today, we are here as a Citizen of Saltpond Association presenting medical items especially almighty ECG Machine and its accessories to the management of this hospital to enhance healthcare delivery.”
She, therefore, appealed to the government to consider tax waiver for Ghanaians in the diaspora who want to bring in medical equipment as donation.
The Medical Superintendent of Saltpond Government Hospital, Dr. Michael Gyasi Danso, thanked the Association for the kind gesture and indicated that the ECG Machine would prove particularly useful for patients.
COSA branch in the USA with its motto ‘Spirit of Patriotism’ aims to improve the Saltpond Government Hospital to enhance healthcare delivery for the people at Mfantseman municipality and surrounding communities.
