The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has redeemed his pledge to contribute Gh¢100,000 towards the construction of the National Cathedral project.

The President had in 2018 during a fundraising dinner at the State House in Accra pledged GH¢100,000 from his personal resources towards the construction of the proposed National Cathedral.

“The President as redeemed his pledge”, Secretary, Board of Trustees of National Cathedral, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng disclosed to “The Probe” show hosted by Emefa Apawu on MultiTV monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta on the floor of Parliament during the 2021 Mid-Year budget review appealed to Ghanaians mostly Christians and non-Christians to donate at least Ghc100 to help the government put a National Cathedral for Christians in Ghana.

The Founder and General Overseer of Power Chapel Worldwide, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng who happens to be a scribe to the Trustee gave reasons for Christians to fully support the idea of the National Cathedral when he appeared on the

“The President never said I will build a temple for myself…the President said I will build a National Cathedral for the nation. So this is a national agenda but in effect, somebody has to lead the campaign and the fact that he leads the campaign does not mean he should go into his pocket and build it” Secretary, Board of Trustees, National Cathedral, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng said.

Adding: “The fact he [President Akufo-Addo]  brought the vision does not mean he should finance it. The fact that he brought free SSS [sic]  does not mean he should finance free SSS [sic]”.

The $100-million inter-denominational cathedral will have an auditorium capable of seating 5,000, as well as chapels and a baptistery. The site will also house a music school, an art gallery and a museum dedicated to the Bible.

A board of trustees is supervising the construction.
